Arts and Cultural Organisations Invited to Apply for Arts in East Herts 2026

Calling all artists, makers, performers and creative organisations in East Herts!

There's still time to apply for funding as part of Arts in East Herts 2026. Grants of up to £800 are available to help bring your creative event, workshop, performance or taster session to life during this year's showcase, taking place throughout September and October.

If you've been thinking about applying, now's the time – don't miss out! Applications close at 12 noon on Monday 20 July 2026.

Organised by East Herts Council, the annual initiative celebrates the district's vibrant arts and cultural community by encouraging residents to discover and take part in a wide range of creative activities, many of which may be new or more accessible to them.

To help support organisations delivering events as part of the showcase, East Herts Council has launched a grant scheme with a total funding pot of £20,000. Grants of up to £800 are available to help cover the running costs of one-off events or a series of taster sessions, performances or creative workshops taking place during the showcase period.

To be eligible, activities must:

  • Take place during September or October 2026.
  • Be delivered within the East Herts district.

Arts in East Herts was first launched in 2024 to encourage greater participation in arts and culture across the district. Since then, it has grown into a successful annual celebration, bringing together artists, makers, performers, galleries, museums, heritage organisations and community groups.

Last year's showcase featured more than 40 arts organisations delivering over 300 events and workshops, offering something for all ages and interests.

When assessing applications, priority will be given to projects that:

  • Provide interactive, hands-on activities.
  • Encourage new audiences to take part in arts and cultural activities.
  • Deliver activities on more than one occasion during the showcase.
  • Include some free activities for participants.
  • Involve young people directly.
  • Provide opportunities for participants to continue engaging with the activity after the showcase has ended.
